據大聯盟官網最新報導，藍鳥為了搶奪季後賽門票，決定進行重量級交易，送走陣中游擊手雷耶斯(Jose Reyes)以及1位還未確定的小聯盟球員，換來洛磯看板球星托洛威斯基(Troy Tulowitzki)以及老將郝金斯(LaTroy Hawkins)。
藍鳥目前在美聯東區暫居老二，落後給分區龍頭洋基7場勝差，外卡則是3場勝差，為了保有競爭季後賽的機會，於是交易來強打托洛威斯基，盼能讓原先在聯盟頂尖的打線更加兇猛。
托洛威斯基生涯至今10年皆效力洛磯，自從「落磯山神」赫爾頓(Todd Helton)退休後，他就成為科羅拉多的看板球星；本季出賽86場，繳出打擊率3成05，12轟52分打點的成績，不過他的傷病史將成為藍鳥一大隱憂，近4年只有1季出場數突破100場。
一起打包送來多倫多的43歲老投手郝金斯，本季出賽24場，戰績2勝1敗3救援，防禦率3.63。
至於交易至洛磯的雷耶斯，本季69場出賽留下打擊率2成85，4發全壘打、34分打點以及16次盜壘成功，優異的守備能力也能頂替托洛威斯基離開後的空缺。
本季已無緣季後賽的洛磯，忍痛送走球隊看板球星，目的就為了放眼未來，補強農場深度，從藍鳥換來1位目前還未確認的小聯盟潛力新秀，可能是藍鳥農場排名第3的右投霍夫曼(Jeff Hoffman)或是排名第5的卡斯楚(Miguel Castro)。
